The denim fabric is "18oz indigo samurai cotton selvedge". This special 18oz denim is made by mixing samurai cotton yarn with indigo dye and natural indigo using a special method, making it possible to rope-dye natural indigo, which is normally limited to hand-dying for shackles. Despite its rough appearance, this denim has a rich and beautiful color that is unique to indigo.
